OE coding for market research teams

Depth is in the open ends. Not the 3 days they take to code.

How it works

Three steps. One session.

From raw verbatims to coded data, without splitting files, switching tools, or waiting overnight.

01

Upload your file

Excel, CSV, or SPSS — drop it in as-is. No reformatting or column renaming needed.

Why generic AI cannot do this

ChatGPT wasn't built for this.
OE Coder is.

ChatGPT for OE coding

2–3 days

fragmented across sessions

OE Coder

12–15 min

one session, coded file ready

File size

Paste ~100 at a time. A 1,000-row file needs 10 separate sessions.

Upload the whole file at once. No splitting needed.

Row accuracy

It loses track of which answer belongs to which row.

Every answer matched to the right row. Nothing shifts.

What you get back

A written summary. Not a file your data team can actually use.

A coded spreadsheet. Every row. Every code in the right column.

OE Coder replaces this entire process. Not just the AI. The whole workflow.

Why it's different

Built by researchers, for researchers.

We didn't research the problem. We had the problem.

Knows what kind of question it's coding

NPS follow-up, other-specify, true open-end. Each gets a different coding strategy. Not the same logic applied to every column.

One code or many. You decide.

Set single or multi-code per question. Codes like Other and Don't Know never mix with your themes. No manual cleanup needed.

The AI drafts the codeframe. You shape it.

Add codes, rename, or write a specific instruction before coding starts. It applies to every response.

FAQ

Questions teams ask before switching

Yes, and you have to. Codeframe review is a required step, not an option. You inspect frequencies, read example verbatims, merge or rename codes, and give explicit approval before the coding run starts. Nothing is coded without your sign-off.

Yes. Multi-coding is supported for substantive codes. If a respondent mentions both price and packaging, both codes are applied. Catch-all codes (Other, Not applicable, etc.) are always single-coded and never applied alongside a substantive code.

You select which column to code when you set up the job. Each OE question is run as a separate job with its own codeframe and review step. You can run them back to back in the same session.

A coded data file with every response matched to the right code — multi-coded where a response covers more than one theme. Shaped for DP, tabs, or reporting. Not a summary. A file your data team can use immediately.

Yes. Files and verbatims are stored in a private workspace scoped to your account. No other team can access your data. OE Coder does not use your verbatims to train or improve any model. A data processing agreement is available on request.

Data handling

Respondent data handled with care.

People trusted you with their answers. Here's how we protect that trust.

Your data never trains any model

Verbatims are used to code your dataset and nothing else. They are never used to train or improve any AI model.

Formal DPA available on request

We provide a Data Processing Agreement for agencies that need one for client contracts or procurement sign-off. No friction.

GDPR-aligned by design

Data is processed and stored in line with GDPR. No transfers outside agreed jurisdictions. Built this way from day one, not retrofitted.
